The 7 Things To Do About Trump

There are only seven things to do if you are not pleased about Donald John Trump being your President. Whatever else you do, you must do these things.

1.) Don't let Donald Trump’s ridiculous statements take you there. Donald Trump is an author of confusion, but just because he is an author doesn’t mean that you have to "read his books." His statements are designed to vex your spirit in order to distract you from meaningful action to end his power and influence over the life of this nation. He has behaved this way all his life, but it is time for cogent people to exercise discipline over his absence of boundaries, rise above it, move beyond it, and take the definitive legal and political steps necessary to hold him accountable for his deplorable leadership and that of his minions.

2.) If you get into a political discussion with anybody who supports Donald Trump, do not debate them. The data is in. Either you believe that he is a pathological liar or he is a true visionary, and neither group will be swayed by more data, because the data is more than ample now. Instead, simply inform them that you will not be voting for any Republicans for any reason at any level of government under any circumstances until Donald Trump is out of the White House. This must not always be, but it should and must be now. After all is said and done, in American politics, voting is where the rubber meets the road, and you need to focus on that end game. If you are under spiritual leadership at a house of worship supporting Donald Trump, change churches and/or tithe elsewhere until that person or congregation returns to (or finds in the first place) their senses. Remember, Trump's policies per se really aren't the reason he should not be president - his character is why, and no man of God should be co-signing the leadership of a man as nakedly bereft of good character as Donald Trump.

3.) Stop unfriending and cutting ties from Trump supporters. The more you do so, the more isolated and detached from reality and truth they become. Whether you believe it or not, they need you. Their rhetoric may be difficult for you to stomach, but it is important for you to keep connections. These people are your neighbors, and God says you should love them as yourself. If they are too negative, you can block their feeds without them being blocked from yours. If it is God's will that they be abandoned, let them do the abandoning of you, not vice versa. We all need to be loved through something; that time for Trump's acolytes is now.

4.) Resist the temptation to judge the people who support Trump harshly. In the course of human history, people have supported the likes of a golden calf, temple prostitutes, Zeus, Barabbas, Adolf Hitler, Jim Jones, Timothy Leary, Charles Manson, Rev. Ike, David Koresh, O.J. Simpson, Bernie Madoff, Pablo Escobar, or our local philanthropic drug dealer. Some of those people have been us, our relatives, or our forebears. We have bought pet rocks, sold Amway, and played slot machines and Three Card Molly on the back of the bus and thought we would win at both. Black folks have processed their hair so that it would look be more like white people's. White people have injected their butts so it would look more like black people's. We have all at one point been conned and led astray. We have all been “took", hoodwinked, and bamboozled at some point in our lives – rich or poor, young or old, educated or uneducated. This is the season for the Trump supporter to be fooled. Pray for them as many have had to pray for us.

5.) Do something other than voting to end the Trump regime - but mainly, do that. Make a campaign contribution, volunteer for a campaign, write your Congressman or Senator, write an op-ed in the newspaper. Organize, inform, and enlighten. Engage people who vote whether you agree with their vote or not, but treat anyone who could vote without violating the tenets of their faith but refuses to as an infidel, because they are.

6.) Live and move in the opposite spirit of Trump. Where there is backbiting and denigration, give encouragement. Where there is racism and respecting of persons, show fairness and egalitarianism. Where lies abound, tell the truth. Where strife is sown, sow peace and unity.

7.) Finally, pray for America. Pray as much as you can and as hard as you can. If America does not clearly repudiate the Party of Trump at these upcoming mid-term elections, and certainly if Donald Trump is re-elected in the year 2020, America's world hegemony will be over for all intents and purposes. The citizens of the planet Earth, let alone the Lord God Almighty, are not going to allow a nation of people who choose someone as ignorant, intemperate, and dishonest as Donald Trump to continue to lead the free world. We won't deserve to lead, and so we won't - period.

We are about to have a pivotal moment in America and that day is Election Day, 2018. The future course of America rests heavily on the decisions we make on that fateful day and on our the integrity of our electoral outcome. America is still making debt, North Korea is still making missiles, Russia is still making trouble, Iran is still making plans, China is still making alliances, the world is still making carbon emissions, and God is still making decisions. Let us pray we get our decisions right as well.
